Recently we all witnessed Globacom Nigeria increase its Blackberry complete month tariff from #1000 to #1400. For Android users that uses IMEI tweak, you just have to cough out the added amount or else no 3gig data for you.

Blackberry users, however, have a better alternative to avoid this increment. This alternative is to switch to Airtel which offers the same 3gig data at #1000 only. I know what's on your mind - Airtel consumes data indiscriminately. I can boldly tell you that this particular package does not consume data anyhow.

In a similar vein, Glo also upgraded its data plan package where you can now get 1.5GB for just #1000 only.

You can simply dial *777# and select data plans followed by monthly plans.

Airtel
Airtel was not left out of the crowd - when it also introduced unlimited data plans for night users. This plan allows you to browse unlimited from 12 AM till 6 AM for just a little amount. Note that this plan comes in an hourly based package

Plan 1: 1hour plan for N100
Plan 2: 3hours plan for N300
Plan 3: 6hours plan for N500.

Nigeria's telecommunication giant - Glo, recently launched a new promo for its subscribers tagged Twin bash. According to Glo

Nigeria’s Next Generation Network, Globacom, has unveiled a unique offer for data subscribers whereby when they load data directly using a recharge card, they get free airtime to make calls. 

Announcing the new offer called Twin Bash in Lagos on Wednesday, Globacom’s Executive Director, Legal Services, Mrs Gladys Talabi said that any subscriber who recharges N200 airtime for data by dialling *223*PIN#, will get 200 MB of data worth N800; another N200 airtime to call or send SMS to any network, and N200 airtime to call 10 family and friends. The subscriber will therefore get N1,200 value for a data recharge of N200 and the recharge is valid for 4 days. 

She said similarly, subscribers who recharge with a N500 recharge card will get 500 MB of data, N500 airtime to call or send SMS to any network and N500 airtime to call 10 friends and family members. The benefits are valid for 7 days.
Those who recharge using a N1000 recharge card will receive N1000 free airtime to call or send SMS to any network and N1000 free airtime to call 10 friends and family members. This will be valid for 15 days. 

Mrs Talabi disclosed that all the subscriber needs to do is to buy recharge card and load the PIN by dialling *223*PIN # to enjoy Twin Bash benefits. With the Twin Bash promo, Globacom is making it convenient for data subscribers to recharge for data while also getting free airtime to call.
She said the company has invested enormously on network upgrade to build in more capacity and coverage in the last one year, adding that this has led to significant improvement in the quality of voice and data service. 

This offer follows closely on the heels of the launch, a few weeks ago, of the Free Tomorrow plan, wherein subscribers get double the amount of whatever airtime or data they use in one day the following day to browse, sms or call all networks.

The Nigerian communication commission yesterday released a dial toll free customer care line - 622, which customers in Nigeria can use to report unsatisfactory service from their service provider (MTN, GLO, AIRTEL and ETISALAT). 

If you have issues with your service provider and you are not getting the needed service or attention to fix the issue from your service provider, then you can call NCC toll free - 622 to lodge your complaint.

This service was just recently launched, so i can't quantify NCC's response or disciplinary guidelines for this service providers. If there are stiff penalties though for this sevice providers, i think the era of poor networks and poor service customer care service will soon be over.

Many of us are not new to the MTN mobile-tweak where you get to browse unlimited for 24hrs or a month with Simple server. But for the benefit of those who are still new to this tweak, let me write about it here. You can browse endlessly on your PC/Laptop for 24hrs with MTN BB10 subscription for just #70 or #1000 for a month by following these simple steps carefully. 

Firstly you will need a simple server software, modem and an MTN sim with #70 credit for daily or #1000 for monthly subscription thats all.

i. Download Simple server here, extract and install the folder on your PC/Laptop.

ii Send Bblited from your MTN sim card to 21600, this will cost you #70. Wait a confirmation message that you have been successfully subscribed to the Bblited daily subscription.

iii. Configure your browser as follow

Just click settings on the right side of your browser and use the search box to search for proxy, click on it and click the LAN settings. Configure it as seen the diagram below. Click ok and you are good to go.

Log level: debug
You can now close the settings and click the connect button

Do you wish to hide your Identity or your Phone number from the person you are about to call? Whether you use MTN, GLO, AIRTEL, ETISALAT etc, this is very simple, all you have to do is follow this simple steps...

i. Make use of Caller ID blocking code

Many Countries allow their customers to hide their phone no from recipients they want to call. Many Countries have their codes, but the universal code that works in many countries is #31# followed by the persons number. For example, if you want to call 08056565555. You will dial #31#08056565555 and that's it. 

ii. Use your device settings

The second method to use is adjusting the settings on your phone. Most phones have this facility.
For Android - Go to settings > tap call > tap additional settings >tap caller ID and then tap hide number and that's it.
