Revealed: Smartphone users check their phones an average of 85 times a day

Have you ever wondered averagely how many times you check your Phone daily? Well a study suggested that an individual checks his/her phone 85 times daily without even realizing this. Furthermore an average individual uses their phone for 5 hours a day which is about one third of the time we are awake.

This survey was conducted by University of Lincoln, Lancaster University and the University of the West of England by requesting twenty-three participants between ages 18 to 33 to estimate the amount of time they spend on their smartphone and compared it with their actual usage. This was done by installing an app which records their usage over a two-week period, including activities like phone calls, checking the time, looking at message notifications or social media alerts and playing music.

The final work, published in the journal Plos One, concluded that people were accessing their phones twice as often as they thought.

The Researchers also discovered that smartphone use was typically confined to short bursts, with more than half of uses lasting less than 30 seconds.

The researchers of the survey argue that rapid mobile phone interactions are becoming habitual for smartphone users.

They further said consumers have very little awareness of the frequency with which they check their phone. This is the first study conducted to objectively show that some of our mobile phone interactions are habitual. It is pertinent to note - that heavy users are not necessarily the same as problem users.

Would you rock this high-tech sports underwear that uses 'crushed minerals' to control temperature

The technology world just keeps growing exponentially with the rate at which new gadgets are surfacing daily.

This new high tech underwear was invented because sportsmen and women have to put their bodies through a lot of physical strain during training or events. In-order to reduce this, ''2UNDR shorts'' was unveiled, a new sportswear brand dedicated to manufacturing some of the techiest underwear shorts we've ever witnessed.

2UNDR are produced from a thermal-reduction material that utilizes crushed jade minerals woven into the fabric. The end product is a cloth that dissipates excess heat and according to the makers, reduces body temperature by three to six degrees.

The underwear produced in an additional moisture-layer designed to wick away sweat. Or, as the manufacturer puts it: "an in-your-pants air conditioning system for your unmentionables."

Furthermore, built into the front of every pair is the (trademarked, no less) "Joey Pouch". The ultimate addition to any brief that "protects your package from unwanted skin-to-skin contact for reduced chafing and a perfect fit."

A smarter way for sports men and women to reduce physical strain to the body.

Pregnancy tests could soon be taken by Women using smartphones

Tech genius are trying to create an app for smartphones which women can use to take pregnancy test and also to monitor diabetes. And all the credits goes to a sensor that can measure bodily fluids such as blood, saliva, urine, sweat or breathe.

This sensor makes use of an optical phenomenon known as surface plasmon resonance (SPR), which happens when light causes electrons on the surface of a thin film to jostle. This then detects the composition of fluid or the presence of particular biomolecules or trace gases.

The process (Surface plasmon resonance) takes place when a static beam of light strikes a metallic film. Large band of the light is reflected, but a little band is absorbed by the film’s surface electrons, causing them to resonate.

A Doctor at the University of Hanover in Germany, Dr Kort Bremer stated that: ''They have the potential to develop small and robust lab-on-a-chip devices for smartphones. So, surface plasmon resonance sensors could become feasible and available now.”

Scan your face through selfie to pay your bills - MasterCard

MasterCard announced yesterday that it's planning to introduce a layer of biometric security to its credit cards and all users will do henceforth is simply take a selfie for their transactions.

This new biometric security will produce a digitized map of your face, change that map into a hash and compare it to the hash stored on the company's server. Henceforth, MasterCard users will be able to pay through a mobile app with either by staring into the device and blinking once or by their fingerprints. The eye blink is designed to prevent scammers from just holding up a picture of you to spoof the system.

Users will be required to download the MasterCard phone app to use this new feature. After a user pays for something, he/she will see an authorization pop-up having various options. You can now choose the facial recognition option, stare at the device, and then blink to snap a picture of yourself – that’s it.

The company reportedly already partnered with Google, Blackberry, Microsoft and Apple with hopes to kick-off a limited 500-person pilot program later this year. Once the new system has proven successful, it could be available to the public as early as next year.

Wireless charging to your car - Qualcomm partners with Daimler

From self driving cars to electric cars to speak out your destination, the car industry has proven to tech enthusiasts that it is not far behind when it comes to tech innovations.

Soon, in the near future we will be able to put your smartphone down on the arm rest - where it will begin charging automatically. Amazing innovation!

Qualcomm and Daimler (owner of Mercedes-Benz) have made known a new partnership to work towards in-car wireless charging. Both companies are also going to develop ideas for charging electric cars without cables.

The time of fiddling around with cables and cigarette lighter sockets could be over soon. In fact, this innovation could see your car's built-in systems might eventually be able to charge up your smartphone while it's sits in your pocket.

"It's important that we remain on the cutting edge of technology," said Daimler's Thomas Weber, echoing the thinking of every car manufacturer as the likes of Google and Apple jostle for position.

The partnership between Daimler and Qualcomm also encompass 3G/4G connectivity inside cars, which will be a heartbeat technology for getting map updates,
software patches and more straight to a vehicle without a smartphone.

Tech enthusiasts don't have any details of particular products yet or a timescale on when this might appear but it's encouraging to see car manufacturers getting up to speed with today's technology trend.
