Facebook Messenger now allows US citizens to send money to friends

Popular social company Facebook has formally announced its latest feature addition for its Messenger app which is support for sending money to your contacts. The company hopes users will use this upgrade as a solution for this purpose instead of other options like PayPal. I hope this is also made available to Africans soon

This upgrade has reeled out how easy it is to send money to someone as this is done right inside the chat view with a contact, and after you have added your bank card once, it’s basically all a matter of choosing a sum. Just imagine not having to visit a website to transfer money to your friends.
This is how it works - In the chat view for any friend of yours, you’ll see a new '$' icon. Tap on that, enter your card details and the amount you want to send, and tap Pay in the top right corner. Your first transfer will you require you to add your card details.
If a friend or relative has sent you money through Facebook Messenger, simply open the chat conversation with that person. You will notice a new message will show up telling you that money is waiting, and prompting you to add your card details, assuming it’s the first time you’ve received a payment this way. Enter your card details and the money will be credited into your account. Amazing right!!!
Another key issue to worry about is security. Be rest assured that you can create a PIN which you’ll be prompted to enter every time you send money. And if you’re an iOS device user, Touch ID will be supported too.
The money you send is transferred immediately, however, it may take one to three business days for it to become available to the recipient, depending on your banks. The service is due to roll out “over the coming months” but it will be US-only.
