Crackdown on tweet thieves begins, as stolen tweets are now deleted by Twitter

Twitter has been well known with the issue of stolen content ever since it was created. Most times a tweet posted from a user was probably stolen from someone else's timeline. Tweets can be copied and re-posted several times we will not be able to identify the real source of the tweet.

This was a common trend among users, but now this is about to change now - as Twitter has stepped up its game. Recently the Company has began cracking down on stolen or copied content. This process is either done automatically or based on registered DMCA take-down complaint by the owner of the original tweet. We are not yet sure how Twitter verifies the original tweet was indeed original and was not just copied from elsewhere outside Twitter.

The copied or stolen tweets will not disappear but will rather show the message -
''This tweet from (@username) has been withheld in response to a report from the copyright holder.'' As seen in the image below

Tech analysts believe this is a great update from Twitter because users who uses the service knows tweet copying or stealing is a major issue on the social network platform.

Twitter is aware that there are several accounts with thousand of followers that run exclusively on content stolen from other Twitter users or other sites. With this new update, it will be stress-less for users to ensure someone else is not stealing and benefiting from their tweets.
