Skype gets translator add-on which eliminates language barrier problem

Microsoft's video calling platform - Skype has been updated with translator. This new feature, which translates conversations in near real time is now available free for users of Skype desktop client. Around six voice languages are available at launch, they are Mandarin Spanish, English, French, German and Italian as well as Fifty others just for text-based messaging.

With the new update, Microsoft hopes to break language barriers, by enabling better business transactions, friendly chat, interviews and so on that involves different languages.

If the service is available in your region, then you will notice a new globe icon in the top right of the window. Turn your Translator on by clicking the icon, this in-turn automatically translates whatever you say during your conversation. Furthermore your conversation will be translated in subtitles also.

Tech analysts who have tested this new add-on still believes there is more to be done in making the new feature near perfect.

Presently this new feature is available only on the web platform, Microsoft's says the add-on will be available for windows desktop app in a few weeks. You can watch the video below on how to set up your Skype translator.
